RIVER FALLS – Area hunters are invited to visit the River Falls Sportsmen's Club range in coming weeks to zero-in scopes and refamiliarize with their weapons ahead of Wisconsin's gun deer opener, Saturday, Nov. 18.

Club volunteers will provide targets and some coaching, if desired, for $10 per gun. The range is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on upcoming weekends: Saturday, Oct. 28; Saturday, Nov. 4; Saturday, Nov. 11; and Friday, Nov. 17.

The club also reminds area hunters that a lined roll-off container is now available for proper disposal of butchered deer remains. The container is located on the south end of Apollo Road in River Falls, just outside the gate of the River Falls Wastewater Treatment plant. Access is available 24 hours daily through the November deer gun season.

The service is being sponsored by the Sportsmen's Club and Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources in cooperation with the City of River Falls.

Users are asked to only discard animal offal -- no household junk, old TVs, mattresses or couches, please. The area is closely monitored.

Another deer carcass collection site is the WDNR office at Baldwin.
