Staying Put, Inc. (S312 McKay Ave. PO Box 193, Spring Valley) offers an array of non-medical volunteer services to help seniors and adults with disabilities maintain their independence in Spring Valley and Elmwood. They also offer people the chance to volunteer in the rural tradition of “neighbors helping neighbors.” These services are offered at no charge, but donations are graciously accepted.

Staying Put has new office hours: Closed Mondays except for special events; 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Call 715-778-5800 for a complete listing of services.

Transportation: Staying Put provides local and non-local transportation (with mileage reimbursement) for groceries, banking, pharmacy, hair and medical appointments. Call 715-778-5800. Drivers needed! Mileage reimbursements available.

Meals on Wheels/Spring Valley and Elmwood: For info on home-delivered meals, call ADRC of Pierce County at 715-273-6780/toll free 877-273-0804. Can you deliver meals? Call 715-778-5800. Elmwood drivers needed now!

Elmwood Coffee & Conversation, 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at Elmwood History Center (110 S. Main St). A social get-together for older adults to share memories and stories, hosted by PCHA.

Music at SV Health Care Campus: 1;15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Spring Valley Health & Rehab (S830 Westland Drive) and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Valley Villas (S820 Westland Drive, SV). The public is welcome.

Stitch Circle, 10 a.m. Oct. 7, Staying Put Office. Bring your own project!

WESTconsin Fall Cleanup: Volunteers from WESTconsin Credit Union will be available to help you with your fall yardwork. Let us know if you need help with raking, mowing, minor repairs or miscellaneous yardwork. Call 715-778-5800 or email awallin@stayingputinc.org to secure a time slot.

Hopeful Hats, 6 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 12 and Oct. 26 at Staying Put Office. Make hats for the Spring Valley Community Cancer Fund.

Monthly Birthday Party, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Staying Put. Volunteers and clients with October birthdays, stop in for treats, games and prizes!

Fall Crafts, 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, Staying Put.

SV Memory Café: Every second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. This is a social get-together for older adults held 10-11:30 a.m. Oct. 13 and Oct. 27 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, S520 Church Ave., SV. Come share your memories with a friend or companion. Have fun and share stories, enjoy coffee, tea and treats, all are welcome. For info or a ride, call Staying Put at 715-778-5800.

Pickleball, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct 21 at Elmwood Auditorium. Wear comfortable clothes and be ready for a casual game with the Pickleball Social Club.

Volunteer Orientation, 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, Staying Put. Join us for a year-end meet-up and refresher for new/current volunteers. Complete your new volunteer paperwork, get an updated copy of the volunteer handbook, update your volunteer interests, ask staff questions, update driver’s information, etc. Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Trick or Treating, 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31, Elmwood Village Office. Hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. Costumes welcome!

Strong Bodies fitness sessions: Co-sponsored by Pierce County ADRC. Classes are held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the SV Village Hall. Call to register at 715-778-5800.

Neighbors Lunch, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursdays (except Oct. 15, which is at Elmwood Auditorium) at Staying Put. Menus will be announced on Facebook. Coffee is also available 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 715-778-5800 for a ride. Community members: If interested in sponsoring a meal ($35) or cooking for the group, call 715-778-5800.

Foot care clinic: Licensed nurse Rochelle Boos will trim toenails and reduce calluses and corns from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29 at the Staying Put Office. Call for an appointment and cost information: 715-778-5800. Toenail trimming, callus and corn reductio, diabetic friendly.

Trishaw Leaf Peeping Tours: The Trishaw will be available to tour the fall colors in Elmwood and Spring Valley throughout October. Call the office at 715-779-5800 or email awallin@stayingputinc.org to schedule a ride.

Book Club: Let us know if you are interested in joining a Staying Put Book Club. We would meet monthly with light snacks and refreshments to discuss the book selection. Can’t make it to the meetings? You can still enjoy reading the book. Call the office or email Andrea at awallin@stayingputinc.org with questions or to express interest.

Animal Companionship: ATD certified therapy dog Abby will come visit. Call 715-778-5800 to request a visit.

Care Baskets: Assembled and donated by a Staying Put volunteer, delivered to members experiencing loss, illness, loneliness. Please call the office if you have a tip: 715-778-5800.

Tech Workshop: For personal help on your electronic device from a youth volunteer, call 715-778-5800.
