Spring Election is on the horizon: Candidates can now file papers

Posted

The 2024 presidential election is barely behind us, but it’s time for those considering a run for local office to make their intentions known. Dec. 1 was the first day nomination papers could be circulated.

Candidates are responsible for familiarizing themselves with election and campaign finance rules, which can be obtained from a private attorney or from the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

The deadline for incumbents not seeking re-election to file a notice of non-candidacy is Dec. 27, 2024. All papers and forms for those running for office (that are not nominated at a caucus) are due at their respective municipal offices by 5 p.m. Jan. 7, 2025. These include a campaign registration statement, a declaration of candidacy and nomination papers. Signatures on nomination papers must come from electors who live within the district a candidate is running. They also must be eligible to vote. Signatures for addresses outside of that district are invalid and will not be counted.

The following offices will be up for election on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Those who currently hold the offices are listed.
