Spring Valley put up seven runs in the first inning, en route to a 19-1 win over Elmwood/Plum City in a Dunn-St. Croix baseball game Thursday, May 13.
The home Cardinals’ first inning was sparked by a triple by Connor Ducklow, and a double by Charlie Mauer.
Ducklow went 202 at the plate, knocking in three runs and scoring three times as well. Brady Wolf also had two runs batted in, as did Bauer.
Spring Valley collected 12 hits on the day, while Elmwood/Plum City was able to muster just two against Cardinal pitchers Nolan Stans, Tyler Bowman and Ducklow.
The lone E/PC run came from Eli Gansluckner. Tyler Bauer and Basil Gilles had the team’s two hits.
The Wolves lost 20-0 May 10, but picked up dramatic 6-5 win at home against Glenwood City May 6.
E/PC won when Dayne Whipple drew a bases-loaded walk to score Bauer. Blake Allen scored earlier in the inning to tie the game.
Glenwood City looked to be in control before E/PC picked up two runs in the sixth inning, prior to that exciting seventh.
Whipple knocked in two runs to spark the Wolves. Paul Schwebach and Gansluckner each had two hits.
Whipple started on the mound and went three innings, striking out four Glenwood City batters. Travis Seipel came on in relief and struck out seven.
