RIVER FALLS – At the July 12 meeting of the board of directors of the St. Croix Valley Shrine Club held at Ras on Main in Hammond,_the officers reported on plans for the upcoming Shrine year._ The active club reported on upcoming events. Among them was the Shrine Club gala, which will_be held on Sept. 10, followed by the Sept. 11 open house of the Shriners Clinic for Children in Woodbury. In discussions about the clinic, Bob Hering reported on the appointment of David Voller as the new administrator of Shriners. Shriners helped 1,650 kids last month. This amount is due in large part to other clinics that were not functioning during Covid.
Among the numerous reports was news of the Vidalia onion sales and the upcoming Ladies Auxiliary auction in November. The ladies of the auxiliary are always there to provide needed funds for Shriners Clinics for Children.
The St. Croix Valley Shrine Club has a very active year planned. On July 25, at the River Falls Golf Club, the nobles will hold the 'Better Late than Never” Potentates Party honoring the 2020 Potentate Barry Ausen. Ausen did an outstanding job as Potentate under difficult circumstances during the pandemic.
St. Croix Valley is currently planning a sportsman's banquet scheduled for Oct. 16. The directors voted to have Jack Thomas invite a member of the shooting club to attend along with their parents to share the club table during the event. The club also voted to give away a kayak for the event.
The Zor Roadrunners are at the halfway point in their parade season and reports indicate they are being well received. Their appearance at River Falls Days was a stationary show where the unit goes went into its routine in a set location as onlookers walk past. A new addition at the River Falls Days parade.
Brock Haverlandt of New Richmond will be the parade marshal and will appear before the UWRF Homecoming game.
The next meeting of the popular club will be the annual Stag Night-Election on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at the River's Edge in Somerset.
