The most important track week of the season arrived, with teams competing in both their Regional and Sectional in a short span. Fifteen events rose to the occasion and will be heading to State on Friday and Saturday in La Crosse.
Elmwood/Plum City
The EPC girls earned a Regional title in Mondovi. Brewer Link won the high jump, Allie Sauve won the triple jump, Leslie Widman won the long jump and Aurora Sampair won the pole vault. In second place, Sauve, Polly Webb, Adrea Arredondo and Leslie Widman were strong in the 4x100, Arredondo was runner-up in the 200-meter race and Sampair continued her big day in the discus event. Rounding out the Section qualifiers in fourth place were Arredondo in the 100 and Bryce Bechel in the 400.
The Wolves will be featured in three State events. Allie Sauve took first place in the triple jump at the Bangor Sectional. Sauve has picked up wins in the event all year, but this time the best jump yet, breaking the school record with a 35’-5.5”. Aurora Sampair also won the Sectional in the discus event, scoring a 119-10. Leslie Widman finished fourth in the long jump with a school record-tying 16-9 leap.
The 4x100 girls relay did not qualify for State, but Widman, Sauve, Lillian Pullen and Arredondo did break the school record with a 51.66 time to take fifth place, one spot off qualification.

The individual champions were Stahlke in the 400 and the boys 4x800 team.
Ellsworth had two State qualifiers who did so with school record times. Stahlke beat his own school record time at the Rice Lake Sectional, finishing with a 50.05 time that beat his previous 50.14 to take third place. The Panthers also saw the 4x800 team of Jacob Michels, Kyle VanWatermeulen, Ben Baker and Mendez break the school record with an 8:09.17, beating the record set a year ago. The team took second place to qualify for State.
Some other Panthers threatened State qualification, including Kressin’s sixth place discus finish and Stahlke’s sixth place 200 time, but no one else cracked the top four.

Spring Valley had a solid day at the Mondovi Regional to open the week. Katie Matthys took fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles with a 17.88, Parker Cipriano took fourth with a six-foot high jump, the 4x800 girls relay (Maddie Connors, Samantha Spence, Wynni Vanasse and Gwen Yonke) took fourth with a 12:23.76 time and the 4x200 girls relay (Rylie Fritz, Jada Hoolihan, Stella Mathison and Ella Peterson) took fourth with a 1:56.00 time to each advance to Sectionals.
