Staying Put announces November events

Staying Put, Inc. (S312 McKay Ave. PO Box 193, Spring Valley) offers an array of non-medical volunteer services to help seniors and adults with disabilities maintain their independence in Spring Valley and Elmwood. They also offer people the chance to volunteer in the rural tradition of “neighbors helping neighbors.” These services are offered at no charge, but donations are graciously accepted.

Staying Put has new office hours: Closed Mondays except for special events; 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Call 715-778-5800 for a complete listing of services.

In November, the office will be closed Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) and Nov. 27-28 for Thanksgiving.

Transportation: Staying Put provides local and non-local transportation (with mileage reimbursement) for groceries, banking, pharmacy, hair and medical appointments. Call 715-778-5800. Drivers needed! Mileage reimbursements available.

Meals on Wheels/Spring Valley and Elmwood: For info on home-delivered meals, call ADRC of Pierce County at 715-273-6780/toll free 877-273-0804. Can you deliver meals? Call 715-778-5800. Elmwood drivers needed now!

Coffee at Kern’s + Donut Day: 10 a.m. Nov. 5 at 109 N. Main St., Elmwood.

Elmwood Craft Day, 11 a.m. Nov. 5, Elmwood Public Library (111 N. Main St.) Bring your own project (knitting, drawing, etc.) or follow along with our monthly craft (announced on Facebook). Call 715-778-5800 if you need a ride to/from the event.

Coffee Klatch: 10-11 a.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Staying Put office (occasional cancellation). Enjoy a visit over fresh coffee or tea, donated treats. All clients and volunteers are welcome to drop in! All events begin at 10 a.m.

Music at SV Health Care Campus: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Valley Villas.

Coffee & Conversation: A social get-together for older adults to share memories and stories, scheduled 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at Elmwood History Center (110 S. Main St.)

Soup Contest, Nov. 12, Staying Put office. Bring your best soups and chilis for the Inaugural Staying Put Soup Contest. Drop your entries off between 9-11 a.m. and stay for judging and tasting at noon.

Spring Valley Craft Day, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 18, Staying Put Office. Bring your own project (knitting, drawing, etc.) or follow along with our monthly craft (announced on Facebook). Call 715-778-5800 if you need a ride to/from the event.

SV Memory Café: Every second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. This is a social get-together for older adults held 10-11:30 a.m. Nov. 11 and Nov. 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, S520 Church Ave., SV. Come share your memories with a friend or companion. Have fun and share stories, enjoy coffee, tea and treats, all are welcome. For info or a ride, call Staying Put at 715-778-5800.

Strong Bodies fitness sessions: Co-sponsored by Pierce County ADRC. Classes are held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the SV Village Hall. Call to register at 715-778-5800.

Monthly Birthday Party, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Staying Put Office. Volunteers and clients with November birthdays, stop in for treats, games and prizes!

Foot care clinic: Licensed nurse Rochelle Boos will trim toenails and reduce calluses and corns from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Nov. 13 and Nov. 20 at the Staying Put Office. Call for an appointment and cost information: 715-778-5800.

Elmwood Game Day, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Elmwood Public Library (111 N. Main St.) Join us for board games.

Third Annual Pre-Thanksgiving, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 21, Spring Valley Community Center (S242 McKay Ave.) Open to the public; free-will donation. Contact Staying Put if you need a ride or want to bring a dish.

Happy Hour, 4-6 p.m. Nov. 22 at Half Throttle Saloon (425 W. Winter Ave.) A friendly get-together for volunteers and friends of Staying Put. Come get drinks and socialize.

Animal Companionship: ATD certified therapy dog Abby will come visit. Call 715-778-5800 to request a visit.

Care Baskets: Assembled and donated by a Staying Put volunteer, delivered to members experiencing loss, illness, loneliness. Please call the office if you have a tip: 715-778-5800.
