The Prescott Area Historical Society is hosting its final river history speaker of this year. Local historian, retired educator, and former River Pilot Dallas Eggers will present the history of steamboats and their impact on our rivers and nation. Where were they built, what powered them, how did they navigate, how much could they carry, who from Prescott worked on them, and more will be presented. There will be a focus on how they impacted Prescott and our area. The group has had great attendance at all its events and hope to offer even more next year. Put Aug. 8 in Prescott on your calendar.
PAHS has had its Steamboats, Towboats, and River History Exhibition running since May. It still has a continual flow of new items, photos, and information coming in regularly that has allowed the organization to update and expand its exhibits. The PAHS is open each Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interested groups may contact the organization for private showings. Stop in you’ll be amazed at what the PHS has to offer.
