Superintendent’s column: Thank you to the community

As I am sure many already know, the school district’s facility referendum passed with 1,463 votes in favor of the referendum and 1,341 votes opposed at the April 2 election.

The process of bringing referendums to the voters is something that we take very seriously. This referendum was the result of a months-long facility study that identified our most pressing needs within the buildings and within our curriculum. Along with this, we conducted a community survey that provided us with valuable information about the general feelings of our community regarding various projects.

At the core of our processes is the fundamental goal to bring only what we feel is truly needed in order to provide the support of our operations and to continue to provide quality facilities for our students, staff, and community. All this information together ultimately led to the project brought to the district residents that we felt best represented what the public was most likely to support.

The second phase of our work will now begin as our staff, architects, construction managers, and community partners work to finalize the plans over the coming months. We will be sure to provide everyone with updates on our progress as we move toward the first construction projects beginning in the late spring of 2025.

We are truly looking forward to the day that these projects are completed and we will work hard to be sure the projects are a source of pride for our community. Thank you to all our residents for your continued interest in our schools and dedication to making our schools the best they can be!
