The Busy Fingers 4-H Club has been exactly that - BUSY!

After our October pumpkin carving community service activity, we delivered our artwork to area care facilities. In November, we painted or stained playing card holders that were made by club dad Ryan Field. We learned how to cover all the spots so no plain wood was visible. They were made so that people who are unable to hold their own playing cards by themselves, can have a stand to do so for them.

For December, the Busy Fingers 4-H Club volunteered at Light Up the Fair. We went around the fairgrounds caroling as a group. Some members helped with cookie decorating while others assisted with fun activities and games. It was a very fun family affair.

After our regular club meeting in January, we learned how to cut paper snowflakes. Several styles were made to help brighten up care centers during the cold weeks of winter.

In February, the Busy Fingers 4-H club met at the Bay City Legion and made Valentine's Day cards by hand. When the cards were done, we delivered them to the residents and staff at Preferred Senior Living in Ellsworth.

We had a Health Speaker, club mom Tammy Augustine at our March meeting. She talked about using hand sanitizer and washing your hands helps get rid of germs. Both worked, but handwashing is better. We had a Spic & Span contest, where members were encouraged to come clean and spiffed up for the meeting. The title of “Miss Spic” went to Adelaide Berg and Falon Brenner and “Mr. Spic” was awarded to Colten Brenner.

The highlight of April is the Annual Bay City American Legion & Busy Fingers 4-H Club Easter Egg Hunt. Before the hunt, we filled eggs with candy and coins, and treasures. On the day of the egg hunt, some members brought their animals for the petting zoo. Many prizes were given to hunters who found special slips of paper in their eggs.

Our most recent activity this May was climbing Barn Bluff. There were two different difficulty trails, so members and parents chose their course, and we all met and overlooked the river. Before we climbed the bluff, some Cloverbuds and Explorers planted flowerpots which will be used around the fair in August. They scooped the soil, chose their plants, and learned a little about flowers. We can’t wait to see how they grow!
