Pierce County’s Newspaper!
Paperboy and Publisher The Journal
The Journal is expanding its coverage, branching out from our roots as Western Wisconsin’s Oldest Newspaper to central Pierce County’s newest one.
We’re not trying to step on toes or infringe on someone else’s turf. Truth is, we want to make sure Public Notices remain available to Pierce County readers.
For years, many county communities relied on a paper published in the county seat to provide Public Notices. That newspaper underwent a variety of consolidations, the last of which brought it to a home in Minnesota. Minnesota newspapers cannot be certified to legally run Public Notices in the State of Wisconsin.
There are now two official newspapers remaining that are published in Pierce County: The Journal and the Spring Valley Sun-Argus.
Our hope is that Pierce County, the Village of Ellsworth and Pierce County townships realize how important it is to keep Public Notice information in the hands of the citizenry.
They actually haven’t been supposed to have been running any Public Notices in a Minnesota publication for many months.
We’re hopeful now that we can help keep a rich, LOCAL newspaper tradition alive.
We’re proud to publish The Journal weekly and of our rich Pierce County and Wisconsin heritage!
In coming weeks, you’ll see a lot more in our pages, a lot more news, a lot more sports, a lot more school information.
