THE JOURNAL Proud to serve Pierce County!

Paperboy and Publisher

We’re sad to report that on Monday there was several other local casualties in the changing local newspaper industry.

Weekly newspapers that served Hastings and Cottage Grove-Woodbury are being shut down. They are ceasing publication.

These papers, communities and – unfortunately theirs staffs, are just a pawn in a corporate game. We’re sad for those communities. We’re more sad for the talented journalists and newspaper professionals who this move will effect.

It makes us appreciate Pierce County all that much more, our tight-knit communities, our advertisiers and most of all – our readers. At the Journal, we pledge to always work hard for Pierce County.

While other publishing companies are shutting their doors, we’re continuing to grow by the week.

Our philosophy is simple. We work hard, and we’ll continue to work hard to publish the best LOCAL newspaper we possibly can.

Other newspapers decided they didn’t want to be a newspaper company. They want to compete with Facebook. They want to cut their printing bills. They want to guide you to their website instead for information. They want you to click.

The Journal is proud of our product. We want you to keep turning our pages and see the work we’ve done for our Pierce County communities.

We appreciate your continued support, and we hope we keep working hard enough to earn it.

If you like what you see, we’d appreiate it if you subscribe to The Journal. It helps us keep doing what we’re doing to keep Pierce County connected.

Thank you!
