Special to The Journal
A building in Prescott’s Broad Street business district has undergone a facelift and will soon open its doors as a luxurious, indulgent boutique hotel, providing guests a place to lay their heads at night.
The Port of Prescott will open March 15 at 201 Broad St., once home to Most Pharmacy. Owner Megan Langer and husband Troy have been hard at work transforming the brick building into an elegant, contactless check-in hotel.
“I love old buildings,” Megan said. “It’s kind of my M.O., if you will.”
Once Most Pharmacy closed, Megan kept her eye on the building. She didn’t quite know what she would turn it into if she purchased it, but it was definitely on her radar. She felt the structure could use some love and her wheels started turning. From the time she identified the building to the time she purchased it took about a year, she said.
The Ellsworth High School graduate and now Prescott resident owns and operates Balsam Cabins & Pontoons in Polk County, as well as several rental properties throughout the area.
“We turned the building into a business that fit the zoning regulations, in my wheelhouse,” Langer said. “Everything I’m doing at the hotel, I’ve done for a number of years. I’m just applying it in a different manner.”
Langer saw a need for a unique hotel in Prescott, whether it’s for tourists on the Great River Road or wedding parties wanting an experience.
Prescott Chamber Coordinator Casey Johnson said the hotel is a great example of downtown’s more modern, more updated
