PRESCOTT – Goran Pesic, historian, author, teacher, and lecturer will be at the Prescott Area Historical Society at 7 p.m. Friday, June 19. He will tell the stories of Lake Pepin history, a beautiful body of water that has been an important part of Midwest history for over 300 years. Stop by at 235 N. Broad St. in Prescott, by the clock tower.
Pesic is the second of this year's River History speaker series, check our FB page for all dates and times.
Local historians Dorothy Ahlgren and Mary Beeler formed the Prescott Area Historical Society in 1948. We have worked to make our history center a must-see stop on the Great River Road. Presently we are featuring Steamboats, Towboats, and River History for our exhibition, along with stories, artifacts, and photos with ever changing offerings as more individuals share their treasures with us. We have walking tour maps, brochures, GRR maps, Wisconsin maps, and more for our visitors. We are open each weekend from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will accommodate groups who contact us at prescottahs@gmail.com.
Come see our new exterior paint, signs, flower beds and more, made possible by help from the Prescott Foundation, Prescott Lions Club, and the City of Prescott. A big thanks to all our business members who have made our progress possible. With Prescott as the Gateway to the Great River Road, we invite you to stop on your journey down the Father of Waters.
