RIVER FALLS – Musical performances ranging from the blues to Kids From Wisconsin to a community band are part of the Summer Concert Series in Melvin Wall Amphitheatre at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The concert series is a longstanding summer tradition at UWRF and events are free and open to the public.

The series kicks off with a performance by the Trent Romens Band at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18. The Twin Cities-based band is headed by blues guitarist Trent Romens, who began performing at age 13. In case of rain, the performance will move to the Falcon’s Nest in the University Center.

On Friday, July 28, at 7 p.m., the Kids from Wisconsin will perform in the amphitheatre. This year’s “Star Struck” show will focus on such famous award shows as the Grammys, the Oscars and the Tonys that honor top artistic performers. This year, Kids From Wisconsin and Feeding America-Wisconsin have partnered on a Forward Together from Stage to Table campaign and ask you to bring a non-perishable food item to the Friday show. All food contributions will go to the River Falls Food Pantry. Rain site is Hunt Arena in the Falcon Center, 185 Emogene Nelson Ave., River Falls.

The series concludes with a performance by the St. Croix Valley Community Band at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1. The band, made up of members from River Falls and the Twin Cities, performs a variety of music ranging from symphonic arrangements and marches to classical works and big band numbers. Rain site is Abbott Concert Hall in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building, 420 E. Cascade Ave., River Falls.

Grilled food, ice cream and beverages will be available in the amphitheatre. Parking is free in designated parking spaces only.

Sponsors of the series include the UWRF Alumni Association, UWRF Career Services, the River Falls Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau, and River Falls Municipal Utilities. For more information, call 715-425-4747.
