This announcement is “bittersweet” for me to make. The salon has sold. Covid-19 presented us with a few problems but the new owner proves to be strong and resilient already! By Governor Orders Kathy is not able to be open but will as soon as possible. This has given her extra time to make improvements and upgrades that I am anxious and excited to see also! My dream was to own a salon and I did for 33 years then my dream became finding someone to continue with it and Kathy has already proved she has what it takes! Owning a salon during and after Covid-19 is not easy. It is impossible to stay 6 ft away from a client so there will be many mandatory sanitation and safety practices implemented when she opens along with the crazy schedule as there are MANY clients wanting their hair done….yesterday!
Hair stylist and salon owners have had more than their share of problems with this shut down as far as unemployment and even getting any information from our governing officials. Many stylists have not received any compensation, loss of tips and no way to pay their medical insurances so please keep this in mind as they work hard to fit everyone in their schedule when they get back to work.
My plan was to continue on as a stylist but because of my recent Heart tumor surgery I will not be ready to break my quarantine at the end of May so I am hoping my clients will understand and give Kathy or one of the stylist at the salon a chance as they did when I was out on medical leave last year. I apologize and it is not an easy decision but it is for my health.
Thank you for your patronage and support through the years and especially during this last medical challenge. Cyndi I’d like to introduce you to Kathy Tobias the new owner of the HAIRitage…… Kathy Tobias has been in the hair industry for 25 years. This has been her dream for 40 years. She has been through many life and personal struggles to get to this day. The new small business owner, even in these uncertain times she's taking the plunge!
Kathy was born and raised in a small town among a rural community in Minnesota, with a passion for cosmetology. In the early 90’ she began her work at the Aveda Institute with it’s origin in the same state, a forerunner institution of its kind founded upon traditional Hindu longevity medicine. She was certified with a cosmetology license from Aveda in 1995.
She held two consecutive instructor positions in career cosmetology; one at the leading- edge Minneapolis area Scot Lewis School of Cosmetology and also at Hastings Beauty School of Minnesota, where she co-managed operations for student council and the retail team, created lesson plans, performed various duties including procurement, inventory control, student grading, and evaluations.
Kathy gained experience in retail salon operations and management for the JCPenny Salon in Woodbury, Minnesota with intensive experience in customer service, and in-depth scope salon product industry.
Moving forward, Kathy's personal life experience and passion drive her to deepen the scope of her service to others by working with classes and one-on-one to promote lifestyle changes that improve lives by prioritizing health and diet choices. She has been certified in Massage Therapy at National American University, Personal Training with ISSA, and Nutrition Response Testing. Her aggressive career path and personal discipline had also led her to train for nutrition and health coaching at the Institute for Integrated Nutrition, New York, NY, and Primal Blueprint. She now has a thriving weight loss business with Optava called Whole Body Beauty.
She is excited to be in starting this new adventure in Prescott and us looking forward to meeting everyone.
Watch for the new website, new Facebook page and a new online booking system so you can be on the books when the HAIRitage can open per Governor's orders.
