Alyssa Mueller and Reuben Herfindahl are competing for the seat representing Ward 3 on the River Falls City.
Reuben Herfindahl Why are you seeking this post?
W e need a voice that listens to constituents._ The prime example, and main reason I’m running is the De-Sanctis Park housing development and other similar developments that have been eating up our parks and green spaces._ A movement against the development being built right next to the park was mostly ignored._ We need affordable housing, but not at the expense of the green space that defines our city._ The name of our city is River Falls. We need to remember the River part. So many of us moved here and stayed because of the River and the green spaces. We need to protect that and save it for generations to come.
What separates you from your opponent?
I have lived in River Falls for 28 years since I went to college here and fell in love with the town and the river._ I own Digital Brigade and have been a small business owner here in River Falls since 2002._ I grew up on a farm and was active in FFA, eventually earning my American Farmer degree._ On the farm I grew up in we had a creek running through the pasture and bordering much of our land._ We raised cattle and crops and learned to balance the needs of the watershed, and the animals._ We need that same balance in taking care of our river here in town._ I’ve been married to Caroline for almost 20 years and have three kids in the local school system (Grant, Halvard and Aaron).
Final Appeal: I’ve made my living all my life by listening. _ Politics has turned away from that in recent years. I will always Love the River_ Love the City_ Listen
Alyssa Mueller Why are you seeking this post?
I am running for City Council because I believe that River Falls is a fantastic community that is brimming with opportunities for all its residents._ I believe that any government should be a reflective body of the community it serves._ I want to see our downtown thrive and our natural resources cared for._ I want to make sure that all voices are lifted up in our community – especially voices that have not had a seat at the table.
What sets you apart from your opponent?
My opponent and I share many of the same overall values. _ I think we would both do an excellent job on city council._ What I think sets me apart is that I am a full-time working mom of three elementary age children.__I believe that representation matters, so as a mother and a woman, I want to make sure that our council is more reflective of the constituents it serves.
Final Appeal: I believe that trust in our elected leaders is important both at a national and local level. Continuing to emphasize transparency and engaging the citizens of this community is very important to me. I believe that, together as a_ community, we can continue to work on common goals and objectives._ I would appreciate your vote for city council.
