Prescott summer bar crowd scene brought scuffles
Two Cannon Falls, Minn. men are facing felony charges stemming from a night out on the town in June 2021 in which they brawled on Prescott’s Broad Street, sending one man to the hospital with facial fractures and a concussion.
Summer 2021 was filled with bar brawls in downtown Prescott as customers packed drinking establishments on the weekends. The Prescott Police Department was overrun with calls, prompting the city council to institute a 1 a.m. bar close for a while. One fight in particular that broke out on June 27, 2021 resulted in charges for two men and injuries to several.
Ian Skyler Narow, 31, was ordered to pay $650 cash bail March 28 in Pierce County Circuit Court on felony substantial battery – intend bodily harm (as party to a crime), battery and disorderly conduct charges. If convicted, he faces up to 3.5 years in prison and/or fines up to $10,000.
Quenton Herman Bernard Narow, 28, posted a $10,000 signature bond March 28 on a felony substantial battery – intend bodily harm (as party to a crime) charge. If convicted, he also faces up to 3.5 years in prison and/or fines up to $10,000.
According to the complaint: Police on patrol at 2:30 a.m. June 27, 2021 were flagged down by a Scab’s Place bartender who reported a large fight that had just taken place on the street in front of Scab’s. At the same time, dispatch called the officers to a bar fight at Two Rivers/Boat Drinks (117 Broad St.) It turns out the two incidents were related.
When police arrived at Two Rivers, bouncers were holding town an intoxicated Ian Narow, who was belligerent and accusing officers of assaulting him. One bouncer said he had been called to the front of Two Rivers to help secure the front door after they heard a fight broke out in front of Scab’s. As he was walking up the grassy hill by Boat Drinks to get to the front door, he saw three men running toward him, presumably fleeing the fight at Scab’s. One of the men punched him in the face and throat, which caused him to fall to the ground. Other bouncers were able to restrain Ian Narow until police arrived.
The bouncer denied EMS treatment, but provided police with a video of the fight in front of Scab’s. The video showed Ian Narow punching multiple people in the face and picking up and throwing people to the ground. Officers took pictures of the sidewalk in front of Scab’s due to the large amount of blood.
A man called police at 3:01 a.m. to report that he’d taken his friend, who was unconscious and bleeding, to the hospital in Hudson after they had been attacked outside of Two Rivers at bar close. Neither the victim nor caller knew who the men were that assaulted them. In an interview a few days later, the second victim said he, his friend and girlfriend had been on the back patio at Two Rivers/Boat Drinks drinking. Three to five guys were also there, talking a lot of trash; they were eventually kicked out of Two Rivers and moved on to Scab’s.
When the victim stepped out of Two Rivers at bar close, the men from before were standing outside on the sidewalk. The victim locked eyes with one of the men, who lunged over other people and starting punching the victim. The group of men continuously punched, kicked and kneed him in the face. He said as soon as one would stop, another would start in. He estimated the incident lasted about 10 minutes. He learned later at the hospital that he had a concussion and multiple fractures to his nose, cheek bone and eye orbital.
After reviewing the body camera footage from the other incident that night, the victim identified Quenton Narow as one of the men who assaulted him. He also identified Ian Narow as the one who locked eyes with him and lunged. The other men in the group were not identified.
Quenton Narow is slated to appear in Pierce County Circuit Court at 4 p.m. April 26 for a preliminary hearing. Ian Narow is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 4 p.m. May 17.
