Two people were injured in separate accidents caused by deer in Pierce County in the last week.
On Friday, November 6th, 2020 at about 3:24pm, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motorcycle versus deer crash on County Road SS near County Road UU Plum City, WI in Maiden Rock Township.
A 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle being operated by Scott Schaub, 51, from New Richmond was traveling west on County Road SS near County Road UU. A deer ran across the roadway and struck the side of Schaub’s motorcycle, and Schaub lost control and overturned. Schaub was wearing a helmet during the crash.
Schaub was transported from the scene by Plum City Ambulance Service to River Falls Area Hospital with undetermined injuries.
Assisting the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was Plum City Ambulance Service, Ellsworth Area Ambulance Service, Lund Fire Department, Pepin Police Department and Pepin County Sheriff’s Office. On Sunday, November 8th, 2020 at about 8:39 a.m., The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one vehicle accident with injury on State Road 29 near County Road MM River Falls, WI in Clifton Township.
It was determined that Lydia Taylor, 20 , of Roberts was operating a 2003 Toyota Camry east on State Road 29 near County Road MM. Taylor swerved to miss a deer in the roadway and entered into the north ditch and struck an embankment.
Taylor was transported from the scene by Allina Ambulance Service to River Falls Area Hospital in River Falls, WI.
Assisting the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was River Falls Fire Department.
