UW-River Falls baseball had their first home opener in almost 23 years on Friday, hosting UW-Stevens Point. The Falcons' Cade Bruett (pictured on left) went 2-4 with an RBI. JV Castillo had three RBI and a homerun. CF Tanner Hraby (pictured upper right) nearly robbed a Tyler Soule homerun off Falcon starter Cayden Lomas (pictured bottom right) but came up just short. Lomas surrendered five earned runs in 2 and 2/3rd innings as the Pointers handed UW-River Falls a 12-8 loss in the opener. The Falcons battled back from five runs down, winning 7-6 in the second game of the Friday double header. Castillo had ice water in his veins as he singled to center scoring the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Castillo was then greeted with an ice bucket shower from his teammates for the late-inning heroics. Hraby was 2-4 at the plate. Kale Twombly went 3-4 with two RBI. The Falcons swept the Pointers in Monday's double header to cap off the four-game series. The Falcons won game three by a final of 6-3. Twombly was at it again going 4-4 at the plate. The sophomore right fielder is batting a red-hot .484 on the season (15 for 31). Max Krebs was 2-4 with three RBI. The Falcons also won game 4 by a final score of 12-7. Hraby, a freshman from Medford, was 3-4 and is batting .365 on the season. Freshman catcher Andrew Athmann was 4-5 at the plate.

UWRF will host St. Scholastica in a non-conference double header on Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m. UWRF will host conference-foe UW-Whitewater in a four-game weekend series on Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6. First pitch for both double headers is at noon. All games will be played at First National Bank of River Falls Field.
