Veteran Views: Pierce County Veterans Golf Tourney coming up

Posted

The Pierce County Veteran Service Office had a very successful and amazing four days at the Pierce County Fair to honor and pay tribute to all Pierce County Vietnam Veterans and their families. Veterans were able to meet with them, meet their local American Legion and VFW members and tour the display “Wisconsin Remembers A Face For Every Name.” We are still looking for Vietnam era veterans to recognize as part of the Vietnam 50th Commemoration. If you know of someone, please contact the Pierce County Veterans Office at 715-273-6753.

Melissa Hildebrandt, Pierce County CVSO and Tami MacGregor, Veteran Case Coordinator, are working diligently to prepare for their Pierce County Veteran Services Golf Tournament which is Friday, Sept. 20, 2024. Check in is 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Spring Valley Golf Course.

"Please join us for a day of golf, camaraderie and good fellowship as we raise funds for the Pierce County Veteran Service Commission. As always, one hundred percent of all money donated goes directly to the Pierce County Veteran Service Commission Fund. This is an opportunity to help those in need who have already sacrificed so much for their country,” said Hildebrandt.

This event is in its 13th year; it’s rooted in tradition and gives back to those who have given so much. The Pierce County Veteran Service Commission is their office emergency assistance program, designed to help Pierce County veterans who have an emergency need while they are facing life crisis events such as illness, job loss and deaths.

"Everyday items such as food, fuel and rent payments from the Commission funds can help veterans put their lives back together and directly make a difference,” Hildebrandt said.

Last year over $13,000 in emergency funds were used to support local veterans.

"We have some remaining spots for golf teams,” MacGregor said. “If you don't play golf, for a $100 donation you can sponsor a hole or contribute a raffle prize to the cause. There is a need for a variety of raffle prizes, please call us at 715-273-6753 and we'll be happy to arrange pickup if needed."

Volunteers are also needed for the event. Please contact them for more information at 715-273-6754 or pcvso@co.pierce.wi.us
