RIVER FALLS – The West Wind Supper Club is closed until further notice after a weekend fire.
According to a River Falls Fire Department news release, firefighters responded at 7:08 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 to a cooking fire at the restaurant, located at 709 N. Main St. in River Falls. The first arriving units arrived in six minutes, 19 seconds of the initial dispatch. The fire had been extinguished by the kitchen hood suppression system, activated by an employee.
Fire crews utilized thermal imaging cameras to confirm the fire hadn’t spread elsewhere. They used positive pressure fans to ventilate the building to clear it of any residual smoke. No injuries were reported and crews cleared the scene at 7:44 a.m. Thirteen firefighters and four apparatus responded to the scene. The fire’s cause remains under investigation. River Falls police and Allina Ambulance assisted at the scene.
On the West Wind Facebook page, someone wrote, “We’re so grateful for our catering kitchen and Breakfast with Santa is still on! However, we’re not able to prepare our regular menu items out of that kitchen and will have to close until further notice as we make repairs and replace equipment. We’ll post further updates here as we have them!”
