What’s Up at PAHS? A busy October

Thanks to the over 250 people who stopped in over the wonderful Prescott Daze weekend. Captain Tom Struve gave two excellent presentations on river history for us. The entire Prescott Daze Committee, and all the people who helped them, deserve many, many thanks. And remember Prescott Daze runs on volunteers; maybe next year you can offer to help.

Here at the Prescott Area Historical Society (PAHS) we have two speakers left to go for this season's history series. Local and U of M historian Dallas Eggers will present “Logging on Midwestern Rivers-75 Years of Prescott History” at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2. Nancy Earhart Burt will join us at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 with “An Evening with Amelia Earhart and Her Cousin.” If you are looking for something to do, stop in.

Visitors continue to come in to see our exhibits. Always interesting people from all over the US and the world. Our monthly history sharing day with Chris Falteisek is always an interesting, fun day. His next day is at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19; stop in to listen, contribute and bring in artifacts.  Anita Sterud and Randy Hansen came in with treasures at our last sharing day. What is hiding in your attic or basement?

We are ending our Steamboats, Towboats, and River History show at the end of October. It has been a great success, entertaining thousands. Thanks to all the River Rats from all over the area who have contributed and continue to bring in items. We are consolidating these exhibits in one room. Stay tuned for our next exhibits featuring the history of many of Prescott’s historic buildings.
