LETTERS to the Editor
To the editor,
Kudos to Sarah Nigbor and Dave Wood for shining lights on the River Falls Motorplex racetrack proposal. Sarah is commended for her comprehensive and insightful articles, Dave for humorously pointing out past follies of cities whose sweet dreams turned sour.
Who can currently put an end to this ill-conceived project? Apparently, it’s not city staff. City Administrator Scot Simpson states “staff doesn’t consider itself the gatekeepers of all proposals.” As outline in the city planning document that guides the development process, staff views its job now as helping the developer refine the concept plan needed for an annexation petition. However, Simpson admits that there is some process that determines a project’s feasibility before an annexation petition is submitted.
The citizens of River Falls the surrounding townships can play a role in determining the “feasibility” of RFM. Get informed and sign a petition in opposition to the racetrack proposal if in support. You can help close the door on this boondoggle.
