Wieser Concrete celebrates 60 years: New processes but the same values

Wieser Concrete, a precast concrete manufacturer, celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2025, spanning three generations, tons of technology advancements and dozens of site additions.

Current CEO Andy Wieser’s father, Joseph H. Wieser, started operations in the very same Maiden Rock location in 1965. About 10 years ago, they tore the original building down and rebuilt it to allow for larger equipment. They have made additions to the facility around 25 times, but through it all, they have stayed at the original site for their home location.

Wieser’s other locations are in Portage, Fond du Lac, Weston, Spooner, Menomonie, Jordan, Minn., Roxana, Ill. and Rosemount, Minn.

When Joe started the business, the concrete was mixed by hand, shoveling into a portable mixer. Plenty of the original equipment has remained in the facility as well.

“Old equipment still works if you just take care of it,” Wieser said.

Wieser’s precast system makes them fairly unique, and it dates back to the company’s inception.

The company started with three molds, two drywell molds and a septic tank mold. Now, the molds are seemingly endless.

“The product line has just expanded and expanded over the years,” Andy’s son Drew Wieser said.

Wieser Concrete now makes highway products, septic products, wastewater products, agriculture products, cemetery products and much more.

Concrete produces its own heat as it hydrates and dries. Walking through the facility, the heat can be felt radiating off the recently poured concrete.

“Some of these boxes can weigh 50,000 pounds,” Andy said. “We can actually pick up to 100,000 pounds in this building.”

They often avoid going over the 50,000-pound threshold because that is considered a truckload, but they do offer some products that weigh more.

Not many businesses make it 60 years or span three generations, so the Wieser family truly understands the meaning.

“We take a lot of pride in that,” Andy said. “Dad started it in 1965. He was a dairy farmer and sold his cows and moved up here with nothing other than some hard work and determination.”

The generations are keeping it all going, as Joe Wieser’s children and grandchildren have taken on roles.

“I don’t know if Mom and Dad could have ever imagined it would be like this 60 years later,” Andy said.

Making it to 60 years, Andy cited the team as the reason they have come this far.

“To get into a third generation is really uncommon, it’s like less than 10%,” Andy said. “A lot of that has to do with hard work and such a great team. We’ve got some awesome people that have been here for many, many years.”

“You put together a great team like that, and you can make things be successful for a long time,” Drew said. “Hopefully in 20, 30 years, we can say the same thing that these guys couldn’t imagine what it’s like then.”

Andy also thanked the customers for their continued commitment and support through six decades.

“It’s not only your employees, it’s our customers, too,” Andy said. “We’ve had a lot of loyal and trustworthy customers putting their trust in us over the years… Dad taught us all them years ago that it’s not about having an issue, it’s about taking care of it when you do.”
