Last Thursday, the River Falls High School boys’ tennis team had its final regular season match against Eau Claire Memorial.
Saturday, June 5, the Wildcats played in their final event for the season in Eau Claire for the annual Big Rivers Conference Tournament. All schools in the conference, except New Richmond and Superior, had their teams participate in the tournament.
Head Coach Joe Young reflected on the 2021 season.
“The start date was a month later and the season condensed. That was the only COVID related difference,” said Young. “Being out, competing, seeing the growth in players has been the most enjoyable part of having sports back this spring. We plan on staying focused and fitting in all of the activities this final week.”
The Wildcats boys’ tennis team was made up of 14 student athletes this spring, three of which graduated from RFHS last week. The seniors on this year's team were Hayden Rock, Zach Martin, and Austin Sabot.
At Saturday’s conference meet, number three singles player Jack Stang and number four singles player Elliot Auderith both placed fourth.
