Third-ranked Vito Massa won 182 pounds with a pin against the second-ranked 182-pound wrestler in Wisconsin, Hank Gierke of Hudson. Massa, who earned his 100th career win earlier in the abbreviated season against Rice Lake, pinned Gierke in two minutes, 55 seconds.
Massa pinned all of his opponents in the tournament, starting with a 24-second pin against Eau Claire Memorial’s Eli Mitra. In the semifinals, Massa needed 58 seconds to pin Eau Claire North’s Davin Xiong.
James Hampton won the 138-pound title with a pin in the championship against Superior’s Henry Huber in 3:31. Hampton also pinned New Richmond’s Tyler Harris in 27 seconds for the semifinals. Hampton had a bye for the quarterfinals.
Travis Moelter won the 106-pound title following an 8-2 decision over Menomonie’s Brayten Casey, who Moelter faced the week before in a quad tournament at River Falls. Moelter reached the final by beating Chippewa Falls’ Iverson Beckwith 12-2 in a major decision. Moelter, like Hampton, had a bye in the quarterfinals.
River Falls placed six wrestlers in the finals as three placed second, which helped the Wildcats post 191 points as a team. Hudson won the tournament with 238 points, and Menomonie placed third at 185 points.
Miles Longsdorf placed second for River Falls at 152 pounds after falling 5-3 to New Richmond’s Tyler Dennis. Following a quarterfinal bye, Longsdorf reached the final with a 9-1 major decision over Menomonie’s Blane Keyes, which secured at least second place.
Tyler Haydon took second at 160 pounds after coming up short against Hudson’s Peter Hansen in a 3-1 defeat. Haydon reached the championship with a 16-4 major decision against New Richmond’s Chase Feiner, which also notched at least second place. Haydon won his quarterfinal match by pin in 5:34 against Superior’s Alexander Hughes.
Owen Larson finished second for 145 pounds after Hudson’s Ethan Winkelman pinned him in 3:28. Larson secured at least second place when he pinned Eau Claire Memorial’s Connor Anderson in 1:57 for the semifinals. Larson also pinned Menomonie’s Ben Radle in 1:02 for the quarterfinals.
