SPRING VALLEY – Spring Valley businesses and organizations have teamed up to create a magical holiday event, inviting the public to discover “the charm of our Christmas village” on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Sponsored by Spring Valley Chamber of Commerce, Spring Valley Public Library, Mooney’s Rusty Horse Bar & Grill, Half Fast Brewing and Spring Valley Area Ambulance, visitors will experience festive holiday activities all over town from noon to 7 p.m.
From noon to 2 p.m., Spring Valley Public Library will host Santa Claus, sleigh rides, cookie decorating and crafts at the Spring Valley Community Center (S242 McKay Ave.)
The Holiday Cookie Walk will take place at the Emergency Services Building (S407 Newman Ave.) from 2-4:30 p.m. Get there early as treats sell out quickly. Proceeds will go toward Spring Valley Area Ambulance scholarships.
Half Fast Brewery (S105 McKay Ave.) will host a variety of activities, although the lack of snow spoiled their original plans to hold a homemade cardboard sled race.
“Since Mother Nature is a little confused and we don’t have any snow in December, in Wisconsin, we’re postponing the Downhill Cardboard Sled Race,” a Facebook post reads. “Don’t throw away those sleds! Keep your eyes on the Spring Valley Community page for updates!”
The second annual tree lighting will take place in front of Pillar Bank at 4:30 p.m., along with announcing the winners of the window decorating contest. A holiday light “DAM Dazzle Parade” will sparkle down McKay Avenue at 5 p.m. The evening is rounded out with the Spring Valley Stagehands Theatre performance of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at 7 p.m.
