BAY CITY – A woman’s body was found laying along train tracks southeast of Bay City Tuesday evening.
At 5:04 p.m., BNSF Railway contacted Pierce County Dispatch about the discovery. Deputies arrived to find a woman with fatal injuries; it appeared she had been struck by a train. The woman had no personal identification on her.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident along with BNSF Railway, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of the accident and identification of the body.
There are no concerns for public safety as a result of this incident.
