PIERCE COUNTY Accident Reports

Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 11:32 p.m. March 22 on 825th Street onehalf mile west of US Highway 63 in the town of Trenton. A 2017 Dodge Journey, driven by Chelsea Faye Norton, 36, Hager City, was traveling north on 825th Street when Norton fell asleep. She failed to negotiate a right-hand curve, crossed the center line and entered the ditch where she struck a tree. Norton fled from the scene. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Norton did not use a seat belt and reported possible injuries at a Minnesota hospital. She was cited for failure of operator to notify police of accident, operating left of center, vehicle operator fail/wear seat belt and keep open intoxicants in motor vehicle – driver. Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle hitand- run crash at 10:47 p.m. March 28 on State Road 29 just west of County Road E in the town of River Falls between a 2002 Audi AS4, driven by Brendon James Larson, 25, River Falls, and a 2015 Audi Q7, driven by

Scott Hugh Evans, 41, River Falls. Larson was heading west on Highway 29 near County Road E. After he finished passing Evans and was reentering the westbound lane, Evans struck his vehicle’s passenger side rear wheel well with the front left of his vehicle. The two cars stopped and the drivers began arguing. Evans left the scene and Larson returned home to call law enforcement because he didn’t feel safe on the side of the road. Police found and made contact with Evans on March 29. He told police when Larson was passing him, he didn’t intentionally turn into him to hit him and believed they thought they were far enough ahead to be in the clear when they began merging back into the lane. He said he left the scene because he didn’t have insurance on his vehicle. Evans’ Audi had minor damage, while Larson’s had functional damage. Both drivers and Larson’s passenger, Angela Mae Steiner, 27, River Falls, wore seat belts and reported no injuries. Evans was cited for failure of operator to notify police of accident and operate motor vehicle without insurance.
