Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 12:45 p.m. Oct. 21 at County Road E and 620th Avenue in the town of Oak Grove between a 1985 Volvo DL, driven by Craig Daniel Borst, 48, Ellsworth, and a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by James Craig Nelson, 67, Prescott. Borst and Nelson were both traveling northbound on County Road E. Borst slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto 620th Avenue and admitted his turn signal doesn’t always work. Nelson said Borst slowed down and pulled to the east side shoulder, so he proceeded to pass Borst on the left. Borst began to turn left, and struck Nelson’s front passenger side, causing Nelson to enter the northwest ditch where he ended up in a cornfield. Both vehicles had functional damage but didn’t need to be towed. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle crash at 7:42 p.m. Oct. 22 on County Road C about one-third of a mile south of 730th Street in the town of Hartland. A 2014 Chrysler 200, driven by Chace Allen Williams, 26, Ellsworth, was traveling northbound on County Road C when it entered the east side ditch, struck a rock embankment, went airborne and landed in a field facing north. Williams was apparently operating his phone at the time. He wore a seat belt, but reported serious suspected injuries. His vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. He was cited for OWI.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 2:59 a.m. Oct. 23 on McKay Avenue at Third Street in the village of Spring Valley between a 2008 Buick Lacrosse, driven by Ashley Marie Pandel, 21, Woodville, and a legally parked 2008 Dodge R15, owned by William Charles Reed, Spring Valley. Pandel was heading south on McKay Avenue when her foot became stuck beneath the brake pedal. She couldn’t get her foot from beneath the brake fast enough to step on the brake, and she struck Reed’s vehicle, which was parked. Pandel, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. Both vehicles had functional damage.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 12:43 p.m. Oct. 23 on U.S. Highway 10 about a quarter-mile west of 580th Avenue in the town of Oak Grove between a 2021 Ram 150, driven by

Conan Lee Soine, 41, Ellsworth, and a 2013 Ford Edge, driven by Amber Leigh Anderson, 23, Shell Lake. Soine was braking for a driveway entrance and Anderson was unable to brake, causing her to strike Soine’s vehicle while on the road. Both vehicles were able to drive off the roadway with minor damage. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 8:10 p.m. Oct. 25 at 410th Avenue and 290th Street in the town of El Paso. A 2003 Saturn Ion, operated by Samuel Rojas Juarez, 29, Maiden Rock, was traveling northbound on 290th Street, failed to stop at the stop sign at 410thAvenue, continued through the intersection, drove into the north ditch and struck a fence. The complainant who found the vehicle said the driver fled the scene and went to work down the road. Juarez, when contacted, originally said the brakes malfunctioned, but later admitted to going too fast. The vehicle, which had minor damage, was towed. Juarez, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. He was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control, operate without valid license and operate motor vehicle without insurance.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 9:15 p.m. Oct. 29 at W1153 Whitetail Run, Spring Valley, between a 2013 Ford F150, driven by Kurtis Gene Kerr, 21, Wilson, and a legally parked 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, owned by Timothy Jeffrey Rixmann, Spring Valley. Kerr was backing out of the driveway at W1153 Whitetail Run when he struck Rixman’s unoccupied vehicle which was parked on the east side of the street facing north. Kerr, who was not wearing a seat belt, reported no injuries. His truck had minor damage, while Rixmann’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Officers responded to a one-motorcycle rollover at 12:21 p.m. Oct. 30 on County Road A two-thirds of a mile south of 370th Avenue in the town of Salem. A 2013 Triumph Speedmaster, driven by Leonard Elmer Larson, 81, Maple Grove, Minn., was traveling southbound on County Road A when it entered the west ditch and overturned. Larson, who wore a full-face helmet, gloves, boots, jacket and long pants, reported suspected minor injuries. The motorcycle was towed due to disabling damage.

Deputies responded toa vehicle vs. mailbox crash at 7:15 p.m. Oct. 30 at W8102 570th Ave. in the town of Trimbelle. A 2013 Honda CRV, driven by Jolene Paige Schultz, 19, Ellsworth, was heading westbound on 570th Avenue. Schultz drive around a slight left-hand corner downhill, entered the north shoulder, struck the mailbox and stopped in a nearby driveway. Schultz said she had swerved to miss a deer in the road. She wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. The vehicle had functional damage.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 12:43 a.m. Oct. 31 in the parking lot at N1090 825th St. in the town of Trenton between a 2012 Ford F150, driven by Anthony Leander Schonhardt, 54, Red Wing, Minn., and a legally parked 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, owned by Devin Scott Hinck, Zumbrota, Minn. Schonhardt was backing out of his parking spot when he struck the left rear corner of Hinck’s truck. Schonhardt said the backup camera was not beeping and he did not see Hinck’s truck. Both vehicles had minor damage. Schonhardt and two passengers, Theresa Ann Anway, 51, Red Wing, and Kristine Ann Beil, 42, Prescott, wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Deputies responded to a motorcycle crash at 3:24 p.m. Nov. 6 on State Road 35 near County Road O in the town of Diamond Bluff. Michael Lenz, 67, Cottage Grove, Minn., was operating a 2015 Harley Davidson northbound on Highway 35 when he struck a deer, entered the north ditch and was thrown from the motorcycle. Red Wing Area Ambulance transported him to Red Wing Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Red Wing Fire and Ellsworth Fire also assisted at the scene.

Officers responded to a motorcycle crash at 4:12 p.m. Nov. 6 on County Road H near County Road S in the town of Maiden Rock. Alexander Jackson, 27, Zumbrota, Minn., was operating a 2004 Honda motorcycle westbound on County Road H at County Road S when the rear tire locked up. He lost control and overturned. Life Link III helicopter transported Jackson to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. with undisclosed injuries. Maiden Rock Ambulance Service and Lund Fire also assisted PCSO at the scene.

Deputies responded to a motorcycle crash at 11:25 a.m. Nov. 7 on County Road A about one mile north of 330thAvenue in the town of Salem. A 2006 Honda GL1800, operated by Randy Robert Williamson, 61, Red Wing, Minn., was traveling northbound on County Road A when a deer entered the road. The deer struck the motorcycle, which was forced into the east ditch, where it overturned. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered suspected minor injuries. He was wearing a fullface mask helmet, gloves, boots, jacket and long pants. The motorcycle was towed with disabling damage.
