Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at 1:45 p.m. Sept. 18 at Highway 63 and 830th Street in the town of Trenton between a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by Tonya E. Shaw-Brunner, 59, Pepin, and a 2012 Honda Civic, driven by Samantha Lyn Larson, 20, Red Wing, Minn. Shaw-Brunner was traveling northbound on Highway 63 in heavy traffic. She began slowing down for backed up traffic approaching 810th Street when Larson rear-ended her. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Fred Hiram Shaw, 85, Pepin, a passenger in Shaw-Brunner’s vehicle, also wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. Noah Christian Olson, 22, Red Wing, Minn., a passenger in Larson’s vehicle, wore a seat belt and reported no injuries.

Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 9:06 p.m. Sept. 21 on Highway 63 just south of 780thAvenue in the town of Martell. A 1989 Peterbilt Motors Company 379 agriculture commercial motor vehicle, operated by Forrest Allen Harmon, 20, Lake City, Minn., was attempting to enter a field driveway. He cut the corner and put the passenger rear tires in the ditch, causing the vehicle to tip over onto its passenger side with the truck’s front partially in the southbound traffic lane. Harmon wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. The vehicle had minor damage.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at 7:31 a.m. Sept. 23 at county roads CC and G in the town of El Paso between a 2013 Buick Enclave, driven by Michelle Jean Connolly, 41, Spring Valley, and a 2010 Ford F150, driven by

Chyanne Lynn Schutts, 23, Amery. Connolly was heading south on County Road CC, while Schutts was driving eastbound on 650th Avenue into blinding morning sunlight. She didn’t see the posted stop sign at the intersection of 650th Avenue/Highway CC, drove through it and hit the rear passenger side of Connolly’s vehicle. Both vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries. Two passengers in Connolly’s vehicle, ages 12 and 5, wore seat belts and reported no injuries.

Officers responded to a vehicle vs. dog crash at 12:19 p.m. Sept. 25 at N1731 County Road CC in the town of Maiden Rock. A 2008 Kia Rio, driven by Kaitlin Marie Bigaouette, 19, Spring Valley, was traveling southbound on CC when a dog came out of a yard and ran into the road. Bigaouette struck the dog, killing it. Contact was made with the dog’s owner, who was visiting the residence. Bigaouette wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. The Kia had to be towed due to disabling damage.

Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 8:02 a.m. Sept. 26 at N6381 640th Ave in the town of Trimbelle. A 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Lilia Maribel Saca Gualan, 23, Ellsworth, was traveling westbound on 640th Avenue when she saw something in the roadway. She swerved to avoid it, but struck it. She went off the pavement and struck a mailbox on the north side of the road. The vehicle had functional damage. Saca Gualan wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. She was cited for operate without valid license and operate motor vehicle without insurance.

Officers were called to a two-vehicle crash at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 26 on County Road N threequarters of a mile east of 490th Street in the town of El Paso between a 2020 Hyundai Tucson, driven by Rizalina Sisante Knowlton, 40, Cottage Grove, Minn., and a 2017 Kia Optima, driven by Jarett Michael Young, 16, River Falls. Knowlton was traveling eastbound on N, while Young was coming down a driveway. He failed to yield and pulled out onto the roadway in front of Knowlton, causing them to collide. Knowlton said she didn’t have time to slow down. Young’s vehicle left skid marks on the gravel driveway leading to the road. EMS transported Knowlton, who wore a seat belt, to Western Wisconsin Health with suspected minor injuries. Her vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Young was not wearing a seat belt, but reported no injuries. Three passengers in Young’s vehicle, including a 14-year-old Ellsworth juvenile, a 15-year-old Beldenville juvenile, and a 14-year-old Hager City juvenile, wore seat belts and reported no injuries. Young’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Police responded to a motorcycle crash at 6:09 p.m. Sept. 26 on County Road J one-half mile west of 790th Street in the town of Trimbelle. A 2002 Harley Davidson Elec Glide, operated by Jason Wolfgang Valley, 47, River Falls, was heading eastbound on J when he lost control of the motorcycle, crossed the center line, entered the north ditch, traveled further east in the ditch, lost control and overturned. Valley was thrown from the motorcycle, which then rolled over him before coming to rest. EMS Air transported Valley to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with suspected serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, but wore boots and long pants. Alcohol use is suspected. The motorcycle was towed due to disabling damage.

Officers responded to a one-vehicle rollover at 4:01 p.m. Sept. 28 on County Road A twothirds of a mile north of 330th Avenue in the town of Salem. A 2003 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Ian Michael Post, 17, Maiden Rock, was southbound on County Road A, negotiating a left-hand curve. Post said he swerved to miss hitting a deer, entered the west side ditch, veered across the roadway, then entered the east side ditch where the vehicle overturned. Post, who wore a seat belt, complained of minor neck and head pain. EMS transported him to a Minnesota hospital with possible injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Police responded to a one-vehicle rollover at 10:51 p.m. Sept. 29 on Highway 29 .84 miles east of 1073rd Street in the town of River Falls. A 2016 Jeep Patriot, driven by Kyle Richard Swanson, 32, River Falls, was traveling westbound on Highway 29 in a marked construction zone in the eastbound lane. He entered the road’s south shoulder for about 200 feet, then abruptly reentered the roadway, which caused the vehicle to slide. He slid down and reentered the south shoulder, where he struck a traffic post, overturned and came to rest in the south ditch facing east. Swanson wore a seat belt and reported no injuries, but the Jeep was towed due to disabling damage. Swanson also received citations for OWI-second and failure to keep vehicle under control.

Deputies responded to a deer vs. vehicle crash at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 5 on County Road O a quarter- mile north of 560th Street in the town of Trimbelle. A 2016 Kia Sol, driven by Ashley Elizabeth Andrews, 35, Rochester, Minn., was heading southbound on County Road O when a deer crossed in front of the vehicle. She said she may have been going too fast. She swerved to miss the deer, lost control, crossed the center line and entered the opposite ditch before the vehicle rolled on its side. Andrews wore a seat belt and reported suspected minor injuries, though she wasn’t transported. Two children in the vehicle, ages 5 and 3, were in proper child restraint systems and had no injuries. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.
