ALCIVIA bringing rail loading grain terminal to Hager City in 2025

HAGER CITY — ALCIVIA, an agriculture and energy company located in Cottage Grove, Wis., has continued to spread in Pierce County, constructing a rail loading grain terminal in Hager City.

“This new facility will offer new marketing opportunities to grain producers in west central Wisconsin and southeast Minnesota by opening access to desirable domestic and export markets and arbitrage,” ALCIVIA’s website states.

With an expected completion in 2025, the site is already coming together visually. When completed, the project will have 3.9 million bushels of upright storage space through grain bins, a pair of grain dryers that can dry 4,700 bushels per hour. Upon completion, ALCIVIA will be up to three shuttle loading stations on three different Class 1 railways, their website states.

The overall project spanned from demolition in 2023, to groundbreaking in 2024, construction in 2024-25 and expected completion in 2025.

It is not the first time ALCIVIA has appeared in the county, as they also host Ellsworth Elevator Agronomy, Grain and Energy and Elmwood Grain. There are other nearby locations in Durand, Baldwin, New Richmond and Menomonie.

ALCIVIA offers seasonal price contracts which allows farmers to have more control over crop pricing.

“With ALCIVIA’s Average Seasonal Price Contract, producers can take advantage of what historically has been a good time to lock in new crop prices. The contract works by setting an average futures price during a seasonal pricing window. These contracts are used to even out the ups and downs of a volatile market,” the website states.

Contract pricing options include cash sale, fixed basis, minimum price, direct ship, forward, hedge to arrive and minimum price with a ceiling.

“Our approach to managing your grain risk and sustaining your profitability starts with understanding your goals. Then we work with you to develop a comprehensive marketing plan that minimizes exposure and fits your financial needs. This plan considers your total acres, cost of production, cash flow needs, storage facilities, and other critical areas,” ALCIVIA states.

A livestream of what is taking place at the terminal is available at the alcivia.com website as well as bids on grain. Receiving hours run from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
