RIVER FALLS – Drug paraphernalia and potentially stolen items were both found after a May 27 traffic stop of a recent drug bust suspect.

Andrew R. Jones, 24, River Falls, who paid a $2,000 cash bail for drug-related charges back in February, was found with drug paraphernalia after an apartment search March 8.

Jones was found with drugs, a stolen gun, Louis Vuitton bags and a Nintendo Switch May 27 after attempting to flee a traffic stop.

Jones was charged with several felonies, including possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and THC, all with use of a dangerous weapon, maintaining a drug trafficking place with use of a dangerous weapon, felony bail jumping, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing an illegally obtained prescription.

Jones was previously facing up to 25 years and/or $100,000 for drug related charges from the February events.

March 8

At 10:14 a.m. police got consent from Jones to search his residence, vehicle and person at 523 S. Wasson Lane #5. Officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence before entering.

The police found a glass smoking device with what they believed to be concentrated THC in the form of wax inside the vehicle, a round blue pill believed to be an opiate, a crushed-up substance with a similar color to the pill next to a rolled-up dollar bill in the bathroom and dried THC on top of a water heater in the bathroom.

Officers also seized $3,202 in cash with $2,000 of it being located on Jones’ person.

Jones’ nephew Evan L. Anderson, 18, confirmed the two had consumed marijuana in Jones’ apartment when questioned by the officers.

The River Falls Police Department was informed at 7:15 p.m. by the Minnesota State Patrol that a Chrysler 300 registered to Jones was clocked at 100 mph after attempting to flee a traffic stop. Members of the department were aware that Jones was previously involved in drug-related arrests.

Officers spotted the car at Kwik Trip by Cemetery Road and Highway 65 in River Falls; the car left the parking lot, ignoring a stop sign before pulling over on East Cascade Avenue.

During the stop, the police found that Jones was the lone person in the car. The odor of marijuana caused a search of the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle the officers found a bag of a crystalline substance which eventually tested positive for methamphetamine, plastic bags filled with white powder testing positive for cocaine, a plastic container of white powder testing positive for fentanyl and multiple items including a glass bong testing positive for THC.

Officers also located a handgun and Louis Vuitton bags that matched the descriptions from a burglary the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office had responded to.

Jones then consented to a search of his residence at 523 S. Wasson Lane #5. The officers smelled marijuana when they entered the residence, and found loose marijuana, a drug pipe, a digital scale and gem baggies on the bed.

The police found a Nintendo Switch docking station, with knowledge of a Nintendo Switch being stolen from 523 S. Wasson Lane #7 during a burglary. Officers also found a package with drug residue that was filled with spray foam in addition to a duffel bag containing THC vape cartridges.

Jones was eventually taken to Pierce County Jail.

Jones is scheduled to appear for a status conference at 1:15 p.m. July 11 at the Pierce County Courthouse.
