Some communities have special polling sites for Nov. 3

Staff Report

Many Pierce County residents have taken advantage of early or absentee voting.

If you haven’t, make sure you check out the official sample ballot for the Nov 3 Presidential Election inserted in this edition of The Journal for your polling place. Especially, in the City of Prescott and Village of Ellsworth, it’s important to note that voters will have a new place to cast their ballot on Tuesday. In Prescott, voting on election day will take place at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center, 1449 Orrin Rd. In Ellsworth, voting is at the Seyforth Building on the Pierce County Fairgrounds, 364 N. Maple St.

River Falls residents will vote either at the library, 140 Union St. for District 1, Ward 5, the UW-River Falls Falcon Center for District 2, Wards 6, 7 and 8, the City Hall Training Room for District 3, Wards 6, 7 and 8 or River Falls High School for district 4, Wards 12, 13 and 14.

Unofficial election results will be posted on the Pierce County website – www.co.pierce.wi.us – sometime after ballots are tallied election night. Obviously, the big race is to choose a president, and we don’t need to get into that, but there are several other key matchups on the ballot.

Hager City resident Derrick Van Orden is running as a Republican against Democrat incumbent Ron Kind for the District 3 congressional seat.

In state races, for District 93 in the State Assembly, Democratic challenger Charlene Charlie Warner is taking on Republican incumbent Warren Petryk.

For some residents in the northern part of the reading area, they’ll select a State Senator. Democratic incumbent Patty Schachtner is being challenged by Republican Rob Stafsholt.
