Community Club Student of the Week: Kyra Dix

The Prescott Community Club Student of the Week for Dec. 20 is Prescott High School freshman Kyra Dix, nominated by math teacher Kayla Kinneman.

“Kyra has been a phenomenal student in Algebra 2 this year,” Kinneman said. “She always dives head-first into everything that she is given and strives to do her very best, not only in math, but everything she has a hand in. Kyra is an extremely respectful student and is always willing to help her classmates out. She is an out of the box thinker and not only wants to know “how” to do things, but the “why” as well. I feel very fortunate to have Kyra this year and am very excited to see the amazing things this young lady will accomplish not only during her four years at the high school, but beyond that as well.

Kyra is the daughter of Mattia and Ryan Dix. The honor roll student is involved in A Cappella Choir, Spanish Club, theater, Nationa History Day and the speech team. She takes part in the Teen Advisory Board at the public library, teaches Sunday School at St. Joseph’s Church, volunteers at the public library and is in Girl Scouts working toward her Gold Award.

Kyra also enjoys dance, disc golf, theater, long walks and board games. She is on the dance and track and field teams, took part in my school musicals and was a member of the first Prescott Act One group.

“I have an undecided future, but all I know is that I want to do something great, impactful, and live my life to the fullest,” Kyra said. “I know that whatever I do, I will execute it to the best of my ability and make it my greatest mission in life. I would like to have a family and go to college, I'm just not exactly set on the who, what, or where. I personally think that it is ok not to have a plan, living your life with a purpose is great but also going with the flow is just as important. You never truly know what life is going to throw at you and the ability to be flexible is a very important quality to have. Of course, I am not saying having a plan is a bad thing, not at all, but it is crucial to have flexibility in order to have room to thrive and grow. There are so many things and events that have happened in my life I would have never expected, but even though some were bad, I am still thankful for the experience. They helped me learn and comprehend life in a greater sense of reality. I wouldn’t change anything I have done and will continue to do because I am set on my own path and try to live without regrets, for they end up being larger setbacks in the long run.”
