Ellsworth Police Department reports: May 12-18, 2025

The following incidents were reported to Ellsworth Police Department May 12-18.
Monday, May 12
At 9:12 a.m., police were notified of a custody dispute involving children at Ellsworth Elementary School (445 S. Piety St.) The father was advised to contact his attorney.
Police were called at 10:23 a.m. to Ellsworth High School (323 W. Hillcrest St.) for a vape issue. The assistant principal said a student had a vape in his pocket and was not cooperative; he left the office as police arrived. Ten minutes later, police found the student near Church and Maple streets. As the officer approached, the student threw a vape in a wooded area and was trying to destroy another one, which they eventually handed over. The vape tested positive for THC. The student walked off and police couldn’t reach a parent.
Police responded at 1:17 p.m. to Ellsworth Elementary for an out-of-control student.
A red and silver bike was reported stolen at 2:34 p.m. at Wall and Main streets.
At 3:52 p.m., a resident at 328 W. Grove St. reported their brown Pitbull was accidentally let loose. It was located at 4:36 p.m.
At 9:50 p.m., police were informed of loud music playing in the area of Piety and Warner streets the past four nights. Nothing was heard.
Tuesday, May 13
At 1:50 p.m., police received a juvenile complaint of inappropriate contact at an Evergreen Estates address.
A suspicious driver was reported at 2:38 p.m. at the post office (270 N. Maple St.)
Police responded to a fire call at 5:39 p.m. at Pierce County Fairgrounds (364 N. Maple St.) The leaves on the fire were put out.
Officers assisted EMS at 7:54 p.m. at 366 W. Overlook Drive.
At 10:12 p.m., police investigated a noise complaint at 328 S. Piety St. due to multiple complaints. The resident was warned to turn off the music.
Wednesday, May 14
Police assisted EMS at 6:54 a.m. at 1022 Southgate Drive.
Officers assisted EMS with a student having a medical episode at 12:11 p.m. at Ellsworth Elementary.
At 6:12 p.m., a caller reported damage to a building at 599 N. Maple St. It looked to be unintentional, caused by rocks kicked up by a mower. The landscape company was not on the scene. A message was left after hours for West Cap.
At 8:10 p.m., a subject was accidentally locked in the compost area at 185 E. Viola St. The gate was secured.
Thursday, May 15
Linda Lou Christiansen, 82, Ellsworth, struck a parked vehicle at 11:26 a.m. at 157 E. Main St. A crash report was completed.
At 1:44 p.m., police were dispatched to Ellsworth High School for a student in crisis. An emergency detention was authorized.
At 1:57 p.m., an anonymous complainant reported comments made about possible school violence at Ellsworth Middle School (312 Panther Drive). The complainant wasn’t sure of the claims’ legitimacy, but wanted it reported.
Friday, May 16
At 10:19 a.m., a stovepipe fell off a building at 329 Main St. and struck a car.
At 2:45 p.m., a caller reported someone had struck her vehicle while it was parked at Ellsworth Middle School between 6-7:30 p.m. May 13 near the pool. She emailed officers photos of the damage.
At 4:05 p.m., a smoking pipe was reported found at Ellsworth Middle School after students returned from a field trip.
At 5:12 p.m., a resident at 250 W. Summit Ave. had questions about tree limbs falling over property lines. He was advised it’s a civil matter.
Saturday, May 17
A caller reported a tree on a power line at 9:48 a.m. at 311 S. Plum St. The tree was not an issue.
Jerry Wayne Wilhite, 54, Ellsworth, was arrested for a warrant, possession of methamphetamine, possess drug paraphernalia and a probation hold at 11:19 a.m. at 141 Evergreen Estates St.
At 6:12 p.m., Cenex (610 E. Main St.) reported a possible intoxicated person who had slurred speech, glossy eyes and smelled of alcohol. The suspect denied drinking anything; they were allowed to call a neighbor for a ride home since they were not seen driving a vehicle.
At 11:51 p.m., police received a complaint of someone going through cars at 550 Burton Circle. Nothing was stolen.
Sunday, May 18
A complainant reported receiving harassing phone calls at 11:02 p.m. at 366 W. Main St. They requested extra patrol.
