ELLSWORTH – The Ellsworth Public Library (312 W. Main St.) has a busy month of programming planned for October.

Our celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the Newbery Award Reading Challenge continues through Dec. 31.

Fall Secret Message Hunt – Oct. 3-15 Stop by the library for a Secret Message Hunt recording sheet, then find the facts about glass and the hidden letters in the 20 painted planters around Ellsworth, solve the secret message and then either stop by the library or visit our table at the East End Fall Fest on Oct. 15 to pick up a small reward for participating.

Main Street Story Walk – Oct. 3-31 Start at the Ellsworth Public Library to start your Story Walk, then make your way up Main Street finding the story pages in busi ness windows to read along the way. At Subway, cross the street and continue your stroll back down Main Street and finish back at the library to sign our Story Walk guest book and pick up a small prize for participating.

Teen Meet-up and Teen Advisory Board Informational Meeting with taco bar, games and crafts – 4 p.m. Oct. 4.

Friends of the Library Board meeting,

6:30 p.m. Oct. 6.

Friday Storytimes, 10 a.m. Oct. 7, 14 and 28.

Wisconsin Science Festival – Oct. 10-16 Stop by the library anytime this week to visit our Science of Glass Display, complete activities, pick up a free Science in a Bag Kit (while supplies last), and/or drop-in Oct.11 and Oct. 13 between 5-7 p.m. for suncatcher and faux stained-glass crafts, all in celebration of the Wisconsin Science Festival and the International Year of Glass.

Discover Together Tuesday, Mindful Wellness Moments with Tonya Schmidt of Mindful SOULutions, 11 a.m. Oct. 11.

Morning Book Club, 10:30 a.m. Oct. 13 Robotics for Kids, 10 a.m. Oct. 15 LEGO with the Library, 4 p.m. Oct. 18 Community Book Club, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 20

Saturday Story Spectacular – Costume Party! 10:30 a.m. Oct. 29 October 11 – Discover Together Tuesday – Mindful Wellness Moments with Tonya Schmidt of Mindful SOULutions – 11:00 am Community Trick or Treat, Main Street and East End businesses, 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31, plus Community Scarecrow Contest Voting. Businesses, organizations and residents are invited to create and display a scarecrow to be a part of our contest. Scarecrows should be up by 10 a.m. on Oct. 31 for voting on Facebook and in person at the library. Contact Caroline at the library for more informa- tion or to confirm your participation.
