PRESCOTT – For the second time since this fall, Freedom Park is hosting goats along the hillside of the Mississippi River to help clean up invasive plant species that have been growing there over the years.
An educational program will also takE place this week, Tuesday-Friday, from 10-11 a.m. each day for elementary aged children to teach them about goat prairies and provide them with hands-on activities.
Israel Haas, Executive Director of Freedom Park, said, “Here in the summer we have a number of different programs for families. We try and get them connected to life at the Confluence, nature through various types of activities and just having fun! Some fun themed goat prairie activities are planned for the kids this week.”
The goats are a part of Freedom Park’s bluff restoration effort which will continue through 2029 with an estimated total cost of $69,700. It will showcase the preservation of a rare plant community for the more than 15,000 guests from all over the world who visit Freedom Park.
