Police arrested a Hager City woman at her home after a man with stab wounds fled her home after allegedly being held there for three days.
Lindsey Rose Bohmbach, 39, was ordered to pay $2,000 cash bond Dec. 2 in Pierce County Circuit Court on felony injury by negligent use/weapon/explosive, felony possession of narcotic drugs, felony possession of methamphetamine, disorderly conduct (domestic abuse) and possess drug paraphernalia charges. If convicted, the maximum penalty is 3.5 years in prison and/or fines up to $10,000.
According to the complaint:
Around 9:49 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, a 39-year-old Maiden Rock man showed up with stab wounds at the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office he said were inflicted by Bohmbach. He told officers he’d gone to her house (N4883 County Road OO in the town of Trimbelle) Tuesday or Wednesday to collect an aluminum trailer with his belongings. The two have an extensive history of domestic violence and are familiar to law enforcement officers. The victim said Bohmbach wanted to “make things right” and appeared to be sympathetic and compassionate while they were talking.
However, once he went into her house, he said she threatened him with a knife and said she wouldn’t let him leave until he “paid for what he did.” She wanted him to apologize to another man for ruining his life; she called the other man on speaker phone and the victim apologized.
While staying with Bohmbach, the victim said he wasn’t afraid because erratic behavior is normal for her. She apparently took the keys to his vehicle and the sim card for his iPhone. Anytime he would ask for them back, she’d either promise to give them back if he did chores for her or became upset with him. She allegedly gave him the sim card back so he could contact family, then took it away from him again and hid it in a dresser drawer. He said he didn’t grab his things and leave because he didn’t want to upset her because she’d become violent.
On Nov. 29, he said he woke up before Bohmbach and took his keys out of the dresser. He wanted to leave because of her behavior and didn’t feel that things would change between them. As he was leaving, Bohmbach allegedly confronted him and hit him with a baby gate before stabbing him with a “huge” knife/machete in the kitchen/living room area several times. He had stab wounds in his right leg and the left side of his torso, which officers saw while interviewing him at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
He described the knife as silver with a wooden handle and said she kept it in the kitchen, either above the sink or near the sink in a cabinet drawer. After being stabbed, he left the residence and drove straight to the sheriff’s office.
He admitted that while he was at Bohmbach’s house, they had consensual sex several times. She later told police he sexually assaulted her. He said that Bohmbach has portable cameras throughout the house and it may help police with their investigation. When he returned to the sheriff’s office to retrieve his vehicle after being released from the hospital, he was arrested for a probation hold and admitted to having a baggie of marijuana in his pants.
Meanwhile, officers had responded to Bohmbach’s house and taken her into custody. No other people were present in the home, which they searched after obtaining a warrant. They found blood spots on the home’s entryway and inside the door, plus blood spatter on the entryway from the kitchen into another room. They didn’t locate any knives with blood on them, but confiscated four knives that matched the description given by the victim.
During the search, deputies also found a pill bottle containing methamphetamine, a baggie of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. EMS transported Bohmbach to Western Wisconsin Health for an evaluation upon her request prior to booking her into jail.
She is scheduled to attend a status conference in Pierce County Circuit Court at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 3.
