With state aid not keeping pace with inflation, school districts across Minnesota have to work to find revenue to balance budgets.
The Hastings School Board, following a Truth in Taxation hearing Wednesday night, passed its budget supported by a tax levy – the amount paid by district property owners – that shows an increase of 9 percent for property taxes to be paid in 2023. The levy was set at $19,103,676, up from the 2022 levy of $17,521,507.
