ELLSWORTH – A Jeep crashed into a welcome sign and decimated a flower bed in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 11 at North Ida and West Old Main streets in the village of Ellsworth.
Police responded to the single-vehicle rollover crash at 3:22 a.m. When they arrived, the vehicle was unoccupied. According to the police report, a 1990 Jeep Wrangler, owned by Jerome Stewart Bowden, River Falls, was traveling eastbound on Main Street when it crossed the center line and westbound traffic lane, drove over the curb and struck the bricks on the flower bed. It then rolled over onto its passenger side.
The Jeep had minor damage and was towed from the scene. Police officials said the vehicle’s driver is still unknown and the case remains under investigation.
