LeRoy Oscar Lundgaard, age 72, of Hager City, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024 at Deer Crest Assisted Living in Red Wing, Minn.

LeRoy was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 50 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Ella (Ray) Lundgaard. LeRoy was a loving father to his children, Cindy (Nathan) Geske and Chris (Christina) Lundgaard. He leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom to his grandchildren: Grant, Cecilia, and Louis Geske, as well as Ryan, Remy, and Rowen Lundgaard. LeRoy is further survived by his brother Galen (Laurie) Lundgaard, as well as other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Esther Lundgaard, brothers Gary and Arlen, and niece Olivia.

LeRoy enlisted in the United States Air Force and did a tour of duty in Vietnam, after which he graduated from Eau Claire Tech and then pursued a career as a diesel mechanic. He worked for many years at UPS, was a dedicated member of the IAM union and the Ellsworth American Legion, where he found camaraderie and fulfillment in his work.

Beyond his professional endeavors, LeRoy was a man of many talents. He found joy in woodworking, often spending hours in his workshop crafting beautiful creations. From handcrafted headboards for his children and grandchildren to intricate wooden bowls and furniture pieces, LeRoy’s creativity knew no bounds.

An avid traveler, LeRoy embarked on numerous memorable adventures, with trips to California, Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, the Grand Canyon, and Bozeman, Montana among his favorites. Whether exploring the natural wonders of the national parks or enjoying the simple pleasures of camping and working on his lawn, LeRoy embraced life with enthusiasm.

In addition to his woodworking and travel pursuits, LeRoy greatly enjoyed his audio equipment, and listening to country music filled many an hour. He was also an avid collector of books, always eager to expand his knowledge and understanding, particularly of woodworking.

Above all, LeRoy will be remembered for his gentle demeanor, loving nature, and soft-spoken wisdom.

LeRoy Oscar Lundgaard leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by his family and friends. May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

On Monday, April 29, 2024 inurnment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 10:15 a.m. along with full military honors. A Celebration of Life will be held that day from 4-8 p.m. at the River Falls American Legion, 701 N. Main St., River Falls, WI. A short ceremony and sharing of memories will begin at 4:30 p.m.
