Letter to the editor: US Rep. Van Orden fights for WI farmers

Posted

To the editor,

All throughout Wisconsin, farmers are demanding the Biden Administration end their attack on our nation’s energy sector, so their businesses can thrive once again. Energy independence not only serves our national security, economic, and supply chain interests, but also unleashes the innovative and productive forces of our vital agricultural industry.

Congressman Derrick Van Orden has given farmers a much-needed voice in Washington, especially as it relates to lowering input costs. Congressman Van Orden has fought for family farms by supporting legislation like the Lower Energy Costs Act (H.R 1), which reverses the cutback on American energy production. To plant, harvest, and process, you need diesel. I’m glad my representative understands this reality.

In contrast, President Joe Biden has embraced radical Green New Deal policies, which defy reality and have caused devastating diesel costs. Instead of America producing its own energy, President Biden prefers we purchase it from countries who hate us. As long as we are reliant on others, our national security will always be compromised, and families will be crushed by inflation at home. Energy independence is crucial towards empowering American workers and advancing the United States’ status in the world.

Congressman Van Orden - Thank you for fighting for working families and family farms!
