To the editor,
Wendy DiPeso’s letter motivated me to check out the non-partisan guides. vote for information about the two candidates who are running for Wisconsin Supreme Court justice.
Indeed, there is a world of difference between the views of Daniel Kelly and Janet Protasiewicz. Judge Janet believes the current legislative maps “are rigged” and that you could not “sell any
reasonable person that the maps are fair.” Dan Kelly on the other hand states that the Court must “allow the Legislature to address the political aspects of a redistricting map.”
On abortion, one only needs to look at the organizations endorsing each candidate to see a contrast. Planned Parenthood is backing Protasiewicz while three pro-life groups endorse Kelly.
Kelly supported Act 10, which ended almost all collective bargaining for public employees. Protasiewicz has said that Act 10 was unconstitutional. She is endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers, the United Auto Workers, and several other unions.
One current WI Supreme Court justice endorses Kelly along with two other judges. Protasiewicz is endorsed by three current WI Supreme Court justices and 114 other current or former judges. Guides.vote also gives dates, deadlines, and instructions on how to register and vote in the April 4 general election. Please exercise your Constitutional right.
