To the editor,
Regarding the press statement you published on River Falls City Council approving the purchase of naming rights for RF Utility at UWRF. I'm hoping someone from River Falls City Council could explain why a monopoly utility needs to spend money on naming rights at the university. You have city taxpayers paying money to state taxpayers. For what reason? There is no consumer choice in selecting the RF utilities provider.
Seems to reflect yet another example of government having too much money and no common sense or accountability.
The other thing that is astounding: in the publicity no city official even bothers to address this most obvious question. It's as if they feel taxpayers are too dumb to even question.
I live in the township and so could say it's not my concern, except that the River Falls city’s goofy government and short-sighted development is majorly impacting surrounding environments. So I'd be interested in the explanation.
Also asking RF residents to elect some conservative, common-sense representatives.
