Letter to the editor: Van Orden supports border security

Posted

To the editor,

During President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union Address, he said the following: “All Americans … are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country. The jobs they hold might otherwise be held by citizens or legal immigrants. The public service they use impose burdens on our taxpayers.”

Not often do I agree with Democrats, but I must admit, I agree with President Clinton’s stance on illegal immigration. This policy used to be the norm for Democrats. But sadly, today’s Democratic party has veered far off course.

President Biden’s open-border policies are costing American lives. Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student, was recently murdered in Georgia while on a morning jog. Her killer was Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who was arrested multiple times prior, but never detained by ICE.

In Wisconsin, a loving father named Steven Nasholm was murdered by Jorge Sanchez-Tzanhau, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who should have been deported. These tragedies could have been avoided, if President Biden simply upheld his oath to the constitution and duty to defend America.

In November, I’ll remember my Congressman, Derrick Van Orden, has fought diligently for border security. He helped pass H.R. 2, the strongest border bill in modern history, through the Republican-controlled House. I’ll also remember WI-03’s Democratic candidates’ silence on this issue. Ending the border crisis is absent from their list of priorities. Their complicity won’t be forgotten on

Nov. 5, 2024.
