Letter to the editor: Investing in students, residents

Posted

To the editor,

We have been Pierce County residents nearly our entire lives and are honored to claim that we graduated from EHS. We also feel blessed that our three grown sons were able to go through our excellent school system as well.

As a former teacher, Carol knows firsthand the importance of having a good educational environment. We are proud of the investments we have made in our school district to date. It is time for us to invest again – to bring the areas that are lagging up to current standards, some of which are unchanged from when we were in high school.

As an employer, Lowell knows firsthand how challenging it can be to find employees who are ready to be part of a manufacturing team. Investing in our facilities will allow our teachers and staff to better prepare our students for their future. We have a severe shortage of skilled trade workers in our country. The issue is only going to get worse until we can encourage more of our young people to pursue these necessary and financially rewarding careers.

We believe making this investment is not only good for current Pierce County residents, but for those seeking to make our wonderful area their future home as well.
