To the editor,
We would like to say a big thank you to Sarah Nigbor and the Pierce County Journal for doing such a great job of making the people of Pierce County aware of the issues around CAFO expansion plans in Pierce County. Sarah researched to find facts about CAFO’s, interviewed residents who support CAFO’s and their expansion; and also citizens who are concerned about potential water, air, and land contamination resulting from large CAFO expansions. She presented both sides with concern, facts, and support. This can be a very daunting task on a controversial issue like CAFO expansion. Thank you, Sarah for doing your best to inform the residents of Pierce County, so they are now aware of the situation! We appreciate you and the Pierce County Journal!
Also, if you have a private well, we strongly recommend that you do a water test. You can get information from the Land Conservation Department for Pierce County. Please contact: Rod Webb, or Rhetta Isaacson at 715-273-6763 Ext. 6763. Thank you!
