Letter to the editor: Reelect Dean Bergseng District 8 County Board member

Posted

To the editor,

I am writing this letter in support of our outstanding District 8 County Board member, Dean Bergseng, who is running for reelection on April 2. Dean has represented me and my family in Martell Township for the last 12 years.

He has always been responsive to my questions and concerns about county matters. I have experienced that his long-standing service on the County Board means that he knows who to talk to and how to get things done! Most recently he stood firm on wanting to protect our water quality here in Pierce County. This issue is especially near and dear to my heart because our well water was contaminated a few years ago when a manure applicator excessively spread manure on our neighbor's farm fields leaving standing pools of manure sludge. Within several weeks of the application our well water tasted "off." We had it tested and sure enough it was high in nitrates forcing us to install an expensive water filtration system on our sink so that our water was not toxic for our grandchildren to drink when they visited.

No one should have to go through this hassle and expense. Dean understands this!!! He, his wife, their children and grandchildren live nearby and Dean knows that our clean surface and groundwater is a precious commodity that needs to be protected for the benefit of all who live here in Pierce County.

I highly recommend that you vote for Dean Bergseng on April 2.
